All Cargo/Express Carriers:
Managing Cargo Airlines in an Unsteady Fuel Environment

9:10am - 10:30am
Americana Salon 1, 2 & 3

Despite higher fuel and operating costs, air cargo traffic continues to grow in the Middle East and Asia. Can rapid expansion in these two regions continue to carry global air cargo development? When will strong growth return in the developed world, and how important is stabilization of currently high fuel prices to making this happen? Senior managers from five all-cargo carriers will describe their strategies for managing costs in a flat or down market.

Moderator:

Bob Dahl, Project Director, ACMG

SESSION TWO
Passenger Airline Operations in a Rapidly
Changing Cost Environment

11:00am - 12:30pm

Airlines are struggling to fill seats as the consequences of rising fuel costs magnify. Mergers and acquisitions may be the first step to fleet consolidation, but which airlines could complement other carriers’ route structures well enough to improve near-term financial performance? What options are available today to insure future profitability for US network carriers? Will European carriers be subject to similar pressures?

SESSION THREE
Cap & Trade of CO2 Emissions: How Imminent Are
The Major Environmental Challenges for Aircraft Operators

2:00pm - 4:00pm
Americana Salon 1, 2 & 3

Despite the fact that aviation only contributes 3% of global CO2 emissions, aircraft operators remain under heavy fire to reduce their CO2 impact on the environment. This push towards eco-friendly operations is beginning to affect all regions of the globe, including the United States. What effect will programs such as CO2 Cap & Trade have on airline operations, and what impact will pressure to reduce emissions have on already slim operating profits?

Moderator:

Mark Atwood, Attorney, Sher & Blackwell

Panelists:

John Meenan, Sr. VP Industry Policy, Air Transport Association of America

Carl Burleson, Director of the Environment and Energy, Federal Aviation Administration

Clive Wright, First Secretary (Transport Policy), British Embassy to the United States

With 787, A380, and A350 deliveries delayed, what modifications or upgrades to existing aircraft in production will be possible to bridge the gap? 747-400F/767-300BCF conversions are in high demand and arguably overdue. Will current passenger market contraction speed up cargo conversions or retard them?

Moderator:

Pete Seidlitz, President, Bristol Associates, Inc.

Aircraft Finance Techniques:
Ownership & Leasing Issues Roundtable

9:00am - 10:30am
Americana Salon 2

With unclear capacity needs in 2008-2009, how will aircraft finance adjust to current market uncertainty? Will higher cost operating leases be a good interim fix until growth in market demand returns in the developed world? Will Middle East and Asian carriers embrace sale and lease back financing to a greater extent as sizable new aircraft orders become deliveries?

SESSION SIX
Fuel: the Game Changer
Future prospects for price stability?

11:00am - 12:30pm
Americana Salon 1

Will rising fuel costs force the development of alternative fuels? The need for such fuels is present today, yet some say the technology is still 20 years away. When will alternative fuels be available to meet current demand and lower dependency on diminishing sources of petroleum? Four industry participants will discuss near term prospects for new and current aviation fuel sources, and current cost implications of fuel supply in the worldwide economy.

Moderator:

Rick Hatton, President, Cargo Conversions

Panelists:

John Kingston, Director of Oil Pricing, Platts Crude Oil Marketwire

Paul Finkelstein, Senior Manager PW1000, Pratt & Whitney

Chet Fuller, Chief Marketing Officer, GE Aircraft Engines

SESSION SEVEN
Appraisers’ Panel: Will aircraft values suffer if passenger and cargo demand stops growing? How much?

11:00am - 12:30pm
Americana Salon 2

Six highly experienced appraisers, including five members of ISTAT will give delegates their views on the current and future values for Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Embraer aircraft models currently in production. The moderator will solicit a consensus from the appraisers on current values for six aircraft models in production. Each will be asked to comment on whether such values fully represent projected slower growth in the current market and in the 2009-2012 timeframe. Based on $135 per barrel oil prices, will carrier growth in Asia and the Middle East continue? How will current market circumstances affect near-term aircraft values?
