U.S.
DOMESTIC STUDY
U.S.
DOMESTIC STUDY (published in July) has three main sections.
The
first section describes the size of the various segments of the U.S. domestic
air cargo industry—scheduled freight, express, mail and charter.
This quantitative assessment is the result of an annual evaluation
of the traffic of the integrated express and freight operators,
scheduled passenger/cargo carriers and charter/contract cargo airlines.
Also included are a revenue analysis of this $30 billion industry,
a general discussion of 2005-2006 market circumstances and a review
of the shifting market for express services.
The second section offers a qualitative review of the major
market participants, including
integrated express companies, a number of combination air carriers and
freight forwarders, non-integrated all-cargo common carriage
providers and 26 U.S.-based specialist cargo airlines.
The report's final section covers several hot topics that are affecting
the U.S. domestic air freight industry. Topics featured this year are:
freighter aircraft
applications; surface-based competition to air freight;
security issues; and the high cost of fuel.
